Grading Day The WCKUK HQ - Banstead Wing Chun
Today we held a grading for the Banstead Wing Chun club. I, Sifu Wes Hussey, conducted the testing, with Sifu Russell Benham present to support his students.
The standard was excellent. Every student demonstrated the level of understanding, control, and consistency required, and I’m pleased to say they all passed and achieved their 4th Technician Grade (4th TG).
The morning was focused and disciplined, exactly what we expect at this stage of training.
What the 4th TG Represents
Reaching the Technician Grades (TG) is a significant milestone. By the 4th TG level, students should show:
Strong, balanced structure
Confident use of Sun Faat (Forward Intent)
Good Chi Sau and Ting Lik (Listening Skill)
Perfect demonstration of Forms, Sim Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, Biu Tze, Muk Yan Jong – Wooden Dummy and the Wing Chun Long Pole.
Ability to adapt under pressure
Clear understanding of the underlying Wing Chun principles
These aren’t just techniques, they’re qualities developed through repetition, focus, and consistent training.
Great Work from Sifu Russell’s Students
It was clear how much time and effort Sifu Russell has put into his Banstead Wing Chun students. Their composure, precision, and confidence showed the strength of his teaching and the consistency of the WCKUK Wing Chun system.
Congratulations to All Who Passed
It was a pleasure grading this group. They’ve earned their results through hard work and dedication. Achieving 4th TG is a major milestone in their Wing Chun journey, and a strong step towards the higher levels ahead. – Sifu Wes Hussey
