WCKUK GOVERNING BODY
SETTING THE STANDARD
GOVERNED FOR YOUR PEACE OF MIND
At WCKUK, safeguarding and instructor standards aren’t optional, they’re the foundation. This page outlines how we govern all affiliated clubs, ensure child safety, and maintain consistency across every class taught under the WCKUK name. Whether you’re a parent, student, or instructor, you can trust that we take care of what matters most.
OUR COMMITMENT
WCKUK is proud to operate under a unified governing body that upholds safeguarding, standards, and structure across all affiliated Wing Chun clubs. While we do not claim to govern Wing Chun as a whole, we are the official authority for all WCKUK locations, instructors, and curriculum.
Our aim is to ensure every club under our name delivers high-quality martial arts training in a professional, consistent, and safe environment.
CONSISTENCY ACROSS CLUBS
WCKUK operates with a unified structure across all branches. This includes:
A standardised grading system
Shared lesson plans and progression criteria
A centralised platform for instructor updates and announcements
This ensures all students receive the same level of quality and care, no matter which WCKUK club they attend.
RECOGNITION & BADGING
Every certified WCKUK instructor is issued a WCKUK Instructor Certificate and may display the official “Governed by WCKUK” badge. This confirms:
Verified DBS (if working with children)
Valid insurance
Compliance with WCKUK safeguarding and training standards
Clubs displaying this badge are directly accountable to our governing body.
SAFEGUARDING & STANDARDS
We are fully aligned with NSPCC and Sport England guidance and take safeguarding seriously. Every WCKUK instructor:
Holds an Enhanced DBS check (when working with children)
Follows our WCKUK Safeguarding Policy
Completes regular safeguarding and first aid training
Agrees to our strict Instructor Code of Conduct
We maintain a designated Safeguarding Lead, clear reporting procedures, and a zero-tolerance stance on misconduct.
GOVERNANCE STRUCTURE
To be recognised as a WCKUK Instructor, individuals must:
Be personally mentored and approved within the WCKUK system
Teach only from our official curriculum
Hold valid personal liability insurance
Comply with the WCKUK Instructor Code of Conduct
Act as positive role models in and outside the training hall
All clubs and instructors are reviewed regularly to ensure ongoing compliance and integrity.
Instructors can access certificates and resources via a secure Proton Drive, contact info@wckuk.org for details.
PARENT/GUARDIAN GUIDANCE
We welcome and support parent and guardian involvement. To ensure a respectful and supportive environment.
We provide the WCKUK Student Code of Conduct (Under 18s), which is sent directly to parents when children join a class, on request. Or you can download the PDF here.
